Evita’s Followers Workshop for Swing Dance
New York City October 22
It’s been awhile since the “Lovely Ladies of Lindy” have got together to work. So I think it is especially relevant to meet up again for this 3 hour workshop where we get to work on our social dance skills in addition to enjoying each other’s company.
The Workshop Material
In this workshop first of all we will break down how to swivel. Then you will train your swivels through the end of the Swingout, counts 7 + 8, and transition into counts 1 + 2. You will also learn some new variations to add to your repertoire and the whole session will focus on valuable technique skills to apply to your social dancing.
What to Expect
We will begin the 3 hours barefoot to strengthen our feet and ankles. After working on our feet and balance we will then transition to heels, usually more challenging, and finally end the workshop in flat shoes. Be sure your shoes can pivot so your knees don’t hurt from the rotation. We will be on hard wood floors. Be prepared to work for the entire session and don’t worry, we will take water breaks.
All levels are welcome to attend. It’s most likely that dancers with more experience will probably be able to push themselves further while beginner dancers will still experience the same instruction and exercises to improve. The content in this workshop will be useful for all levels of dancer.
